Crave sugar?

5 Tips to Avoid Sugar Cravings! (purim nosh, help!!!)

Did you know that sugar is as addictive as cocaine - a stimulant drug?! Sugar triggers pathways in our brains which mimic addictive drugs. It’s no wonder so many people struggle with an insatiable sweet tooth.

Looking to curb those sugar cravings? Read these tips to make you “sugar-independent”!

1) Eat several times a day, as opposed to just three large meals.

This will keep your blood sugar stable throughout the day thus avoiding drops in blood sugar which may result in you craving a high-sugar treat!

2) Incorporate exercise into your lifestyle.

Exercise causes a release of feel-good endorphins which can help turn those cravings off!

3) Drink plenty of water.

Many sugar cravings are caused by dehydration. When your body is adequately hydrated, you’re less likely to crave sugar! (especially if you fasted on taanis esther, make sure to drink away.)

4) Eat less processed foods.

Processed foods contain additives, preservatives, and chemicals which are added strategically to cause cravings! (so think twice before indulging in that Purim junk)

5) Get those ZZZZ’s!

Studies show that sleep deprivation leads to increased desire for sugary snacks. Another good reason to hit the sack!

Happy Purim :)
